"Have you no wish for others to be saved? Then you are not saved yourself. Be sure of that." -Charles Spurgeon

"Even if I were utterly selfish and had no care for anything but my own happiness, I would choose, if God allowed, to be a soul winner, for never did I know perfect, overflowing, unutterable happiness of the purest and most ennobling order till I first heard of one who had sought and found a Savior through my means." -Charles Spurgeon

"Law to the proud, and grace to the humble." -Ray Comfort

There is a difference between evangelism and Biblical evangelism. Biblical evangelism imitates Jesus. It doesn’t preach the "God has a wonderful plan" message, or that "there’s a God-shaped hole in your heart." It doesn't even say "pray this prayer and God will come into your heart" because God may not even hear that person's prayer (Isaiah 59:2). We don't know if that person will be converted and telling them this leads to false conversions, which has permeated our society. While all of these messages may sound good, they are not found in Scripture, and they are the perfect recipe for producing false converts, of which our churches are full. An excellent message on this is by Ray Comfort and entitled "True and False Conversion." Click on this link to open a new tab and listen to the audio on his Living Waters website.

A.W. Pink said, "Just as the world was not ready for the New Testament before it received the Old, just as the Jews were not prepared for the ministry of Christ until John the Baptist had gone before Him with his claimant call to repentance, so the unsaved are in no condition today for the Gospel till the Law be applied to their hearts, for 'by the Law is the knowledge of sin.' It is a waste of time to sow seed on ground which has never been ploughed or spaded! To present the vicarious sacrifice of Christ to those whose dominant passion is to take fill of sin, is to give that which is holy to the dogs."

I don't know what your view of evangelism is or what you're doing for evangelism, but K.P. Yohannan summed up much of the Church in a wonderful book entitled The Road To Reality: "A tiny group of believers who have the Gospel keep mumbling it over and over to themselves. Meanwhile, millions who have never heard it once fall into the flames of eternal hell without ever hearing the salvation story." -K.P. Yohannan, The Road To Reality

We are a people "ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth" (2 Timothy 3:1-8). Honoring God with our lips but our hearts are far from Him. Worshipping in vain and teaching for doctrine the commandments of men. (Mark 7:6,7). "Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof." Never in history has there been a society with so much information about God but so little knowledge of Him (Matthew 7:21-23).

The concept of missions has become so cheapened by much of the Church that many Christians now equate it with fund raising. It has been reduced to just another appeal for money, similar to a building fund drive.

Missions is not just something that missionaries do in some other country. Missions is the primary calling of believers and therefore the church. Jesus stated this clearly in "The Great Commission," "And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:18-20). As John Wesley put it, "we have nothing to do but to save souls."

I hope and pray that you get serious about your relationship with God and that will naturally inspire you to pour out all that God is pouring into you. A lot of us are "stopped up" and we need to get God flowing through us. We are His hands and feet, His mouth and His messenger to tell people the Good News. Like the manna, we need to gather our "daily bread" for those in our tent as well as ourselves (Exodus 16:16), first thing in the morning before the day gets hot (Exodus 16:21), and if we try to store it up, it will rot and stink (Exodus 16:19-20). Now follow Christ's Great Commission to you!

"Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament,
And those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever" (Daniel 12:3).
