My Calling

This is a personal topic but I believe it will help others to see the process I have gone through to discover God's calling on my life. This is a work in progress but it has made some turns already. For many years now, from shortly after I got saved in 1989, I sensed that the Lord has specifically put Daniel 12:3 (My "life verse") and Isaiah 61 on my heart as my calling. In English, that means I believe God has directed me to these passages in the Bible and that they contain elements of the purpose for the life He has given me. However, I have only seen a glimpse of this, and there is much more that God will reveal to me when I am ready. I am in a preparation stage where I am "getting my house in order." Here are the passages of Scripture I believe God has directed me to:

Daniel 12:3 - "Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever."

Isaiah 61:1-11:

1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,
       because the LORD has anointed me
       to preach good news to the poor.
       He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
       to proclaim freedom for the captives
       and release from darkness for the prisoners,
 2 to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor
       and the day of vengeance of our God,
       to comfort all who mourn,
 3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
       to bestow on them a crown of beauty
       instead of ashes,
       the oil of gladness
       instead of mourning,
       and a garment of praise
       instead of a spirit of despair.
       They will be called oaks of righteousness,
       a planting of the LORD
       for the display of his splendor.
 4 They will rebuild the ancient ruins
       and restore the places long devastated;
       they will renew the ruined cities
       that have been devastated for generations.
 5 Aliens will shepherd your flocks;
       foreigners will work your fields and vineyards.
 6 And you will be called priests of the LORD,
       you will be named ministers of our God.
       You will feed on the wealth of nations,
       and in their riches you will boast.
 7 Instead of their shame
       my people will receive a double portion,
       and instead of disgrace
       they will rejoice in their inheritance;
       and so they will inherit a double portion in their land,
       and everlasting joy will be theirs.
 8 'For I, the LORD, love justice;
       I hate robbery and iniquity.
       In my faithfulness I will reward them
       and make an everlasting covenant with them.
 9 Their descendants will be known among the nations
       and their offspring among the peoples.
       All who see them will acknowledge
       that they are a people the LORD has blessed.'
 10 I delight greatly in the LORD;
       my soul rejoices in my God.
       For he has clothed me with garments of salvation
       and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness,
       as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest,
       and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
 11 For as the soil makes the sprout come up
       and a garden causes seeds to grow,
       so the Sovereign LORD will make righteousness and praise
       spring up before all nations.

The Lord directed me to Daniel 12:3 (my life verse) shortly after I got saved and my calling is to lead many to righteousness. The Lord directed me to Isaiah 61 several times and there is a lot He has shown me there, but I am still processing it. I keep coming back to the first verse of Isaiah 61. I see "to preach good news to the poor" by itself and everything that follows as part of that, preaching with actions more than words. The poor are the spiritually poor, those were the ones Jesus primarily went after. I am seeing more than ever how the Kingdom of God is a kingdom upside-down compared to the way most of the world works. I only see a glimpse of it now, but I am seeking the Lord for a greater revelation of His calling and will document it when I have a greater sense of this.

As of 2014, I have sensed that God is calling me into a closer relationship where I can see what He is doing and then do the same things in His works just as Jesus was about His "Father's business" (Luke 2:49). The focus is relationship with God and out of that is the building of the Kingdom of God on earth. I am learning to listen to the Holy Spirit and recognize His voice. I am learning to use my spiritual senses in the spirit and am praying I'll be able to regularly see in the spirit (See Seership) this year (2017). Please keep me in prayer for this.

Please pray for me, that the Lord will clearly speak to me in regards to my calling, and that He will protect me in every way, for I know He has great plans for me. Thank you! I pray that you discover your calling as God has great plans for you. We all have a scroll that was written at the beginning of time for our destiny. The enemy wants to distract you from your purpose and therefore make you ineffective. He wants you to drift through this life and never truly live. We know that God's plan for us is best... His will is good, pleasing and perfect (Romans 12:2).
