The Bible tells us precisely how to have peace. Peace is something that seems so elusive in this life and nearly everyone thinks they won't have it until they die. This is not going to be the case for most people (Matthew 7:13-14, Luke 13:22-30). We are also not going to have "peace on earth" (Matthew 10:34; Luke 12:51) until Jesus Christ returns as King (He previously came as a "priest" to bring us reconciliation with God). However, we can individually have peace from God right now, no matter what situation we are in. God promises peace through a relationship with Him, regardless of our circumstances. We receive peace through Christ (Psalm 4:8; Psalm 29:11; John 14:27; John 16:33; Acts 10:36; Romans 5:1; Ephesians 2:14; Colossians 1:20), it is a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22) and we are to let peace rule in our hearts (Colossians 3:15). Philippians 4:7 tells us "...the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

God commands us to diligently pursue peace:

Psalm 34:14 - "Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it."

Psalm 119:165 - "Great peace have those who love Your law, And nothing causes them to stumble."

Matthew 5:9 - "Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God."

2 Corinthians 13:11 - "Finally, brethren, farewell. Become complete. Be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you."

1 Peter 3:11 - "Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it."

2 Peter 3:14 - "Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless;"

God also commands us to pursue peace with all people:

Proverbs 16:7 - "When a man's ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him."

Mark 9:50 - "...Have salt in yourselves, and have peace with one another."

Romans 12:18 - "If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men."

Ephesians 4:3 - "endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace."

1 Thessalonians 5:13 - "...Be at peace among yourselves."

Hebrews 12:14 - "Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:"

Titus 3:2 - "...speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men."

Most people do not have peace and if you are one of those who don't have peace, I have just told you how to get it. You need to have a genuine and real relationship with Jesus Christ. Please read the Bible, find a good church that teaches the Bible, and most importantly grow in your relationship with Christ, and you will have peace in this life, and the life to come!

"Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way..." (2 Thessalonians 3:16)
